HR Works, Inc. is currently seeking a Part-Time or Full-Time Payroll Specialist for our Rochester, NY office. This is a direct hire opportunity.  The primary responsibility of this individual will be to process multiple payrolls ensuring data accuracy, timely delivery, and compliance with federal and state laws.  This person will also play an active role in the development and documentation of standardized payroll processes; create standard and custom reports; and assist with cross training team members.

Payroll Administration
Ensure all payroll transactions are processed on time and in compliance with external/internal policies
Calculate and process Federal and State tax and social security withholdings and voluntary deductions such as insurance, other benefits, retirement contributions, and profit sharing.
Perform actions necessary to track and determine regular and overtime pay, and factor commission-based income or bonuses
Enter time worked data from timekeeping system and manual worksheets
Set up and maintain accruals, including paid time off
Review and process payroll adjustments
Audit payroll information for accuracy
Create and distribute pay cycle, month-end, quarterly, and year-end reports
Reconcile payroll deposits, tax withholdings, wage garnishments,  voluntary deductions, and general ledger accounts
Field and respond to payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
Prepare responses to notices from government agencies and other organizations regarding employee earnings and information
Ensure all additional information is recorded accurately on employee W-2 reports
Provide guidance on best practices and opportunities for improving efficiencies
Create process documentation
 
Data Coordination and Support
Prepare data for import into HR and payroll systems
Set up report templates and run reports as requested
Create FAQ training guides for common payroll related tasks
 
Experience and Education
Hours Preferred:
Monday:  7:00a - 6:00p (10 hour day)
Tuesday:  7:00a ? 6:00p (10 hour day)
Wednesday:  Flexible hours between 7:00a ? 6:00p
Thursday:  Flexible hours between 7:00a ? 6:00p
Minimum of 3-5 years? experience in electronic payroll administration
Working knowledge of federal and state law pertaining to current tax, labor, and wage & hour topics (multi state experience preferred)
BA/BS Degree required, or equivalent experience with current professional certification
APA certification preferred (CPP or FCP)
Knowledge of ADP web based payroll (PayX) and timekeeping systems (ezLM) preferred
Proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite with advanced MS Excel skills
Exceptional customer service and an entrepreneurial spirit
High attention to detail
